(THROWBACK THURSDAY) KEVIN DUBROW PASSES AWAY THIS DAY IN 2007

19 November 2007 Kevin Dubrow passed away in his home in Las Vegas, NV, although he wouldn’t be discovered by friends until nearly a week later.  The cause of death was reported to be an accidental cocaine overdose.

Dubrow was buried in Pacific View Cemetery in Corona del Mar, California next to his stepfather Harold Mandell. A rabbi presided over his funeral service on November 30, 2007. Several of Dubrow’s friends gave the eulogy; Frankie Banali, Ron Sobol, Glenn Hughes and a former girlfriend named Carrie. The burial ceremony was traditional.

Best known as the singer and principal songwriter for Los Angeles hard rock band Quiet Riot, DuBrow and the band enjoyed a quick ascension up the ranks of the metal elite in the early 80’s and an even quicker fall from the ranks, becoming passe’ before most of their peers, although the band’s staples “Bang Your Head (Metal Health)” and their cover of Slade’s “Cum on Feel the Noize” remain fan favorites to this day.
