THROWBACK THURSDAY: LOUDNESS – THUNDER IN THE EAST

This week in 1985 the initial Japanese version of Loudness’ ‘Thunder in the East’ was released through Nippon Columbia.  It would be released later in the year via Atco (North America) and Music For Nations / Roadrunner (UK / Europe).

Recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, it was the first of a trio of albums producer by Max Norman, the other two being ‘Lightning Strikes’ and ‘Soldier of Fortune.’ It was also the first to be completely in the English language. Featuring two of the band’s best known songs, “Crazy Nights” and “Never Change Your Mind” it would spend 23 weeks on the Billboard charts, peaking at #74.
